Regulatory Requirements
- 3DS: Recommended but not mandated by regulation. Networks (Visa, MC) may mandate on high-risk transactions.
- KYC/AML: BACEN (Central Bank) requires CPF/CNPJ for all electronic payments. PIX transactions require tax ID for sender and receiver.
- Transaction Limits: PIX: configurable per institution (typical default R$1,000 nocturnal limit for individuals). Boleto: no regulatory cap but issuer limits apply.
- Data Residency: LGPD (Lei Geral de Protecao de Dados) applies. Personal data of Brazilian residents must follow LGPD consent and processing rules.
- Installments: Credit cards support 2-12 installments (issuer-dependent). Interest-free installments require merchant agreement.
